1 Are the sound absorption products fire retardant? - Yes, all of the sound absorption products have fire retardants chemically added to the foam's formula.
2 What would happen if the sound absorption products were exposed to fire? - The foam will smolder and smoke, but it will not burst into flames. After the source of fire is removed, the foam will burn slowly and have a high probability to "self-extinguish". VADCON does not encourage exposing any foam to extreme heat or fire.
3 What information is needed to pass my building codes? - Be sure to check requirements in your area before ordering/installation. The foam has been tested in accordance with ASTM E84 and NFPA 255 for surface burning and meets a "Class A" or "Class 1" standard. Class A represents that the material will not burn or smoke much - these products register a 25 Flame Spread Index and a 250 Smoke Spread Index.

Foam may be rolled/folded/compressed for shipping - please allow all foam to lay flat for at least 24 hours before installation.
Due to the manufacturing process of foam, sizing may not be exact between pieces - some variances can occur.

Your local hardware store will have tubes of adhesive appropriate for the installation of foam.
Many apply the foam to a backer board (cardboard, plywood, etc.) and then mount/hang the backer board - this method allows the foam to be moved or removed in the future without damage to the foam, or the mounted surface.
Pyramid Foam Installation - side by side alternate, or spaced.
Contour Foam Installation - side by side alternate, or spaced.
Egg Crate Foam Installation - not suggested for side by side installation.
A popular way to install foam is spaced out, and/or with random designs:
If installing foam side by side it is suggested to alternate the tiles and best to leave at least a 1/8" gap between the tiles to allow for slight differences in tiles sizes.
The higher the rating, the more sound absorbed by the material.
